Raleigh, NC – Juan Carlos Benitez Killed in Crash on Spring Forest Rd.

Raleigh, NC (November 9, 2020) – A man was killed in a car accident that took place in Raleigh on Saturday, November 7th. The crash was reported around 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Spring Forest Road and Green Road.

The Raleigh Police Department responded to the scene shortly after the crash took place. According to officials, Taylor Nicole McElroy was operating an Audi near Green Road when she approached the intersection. The Audi was traveling approximately 80 mph in a 45 mph zone when it crossed the path of a Mitsubishi that was turning onto Green Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene. The driver of the Mitsubishi, Juan Carlos Benitez, suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. McElroy and a passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Following an investigation, police charged McElroy with Driving While Impaired and Felony Death by Vehicle, and Felony Serious Injury by Vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation at this time. No additional details are available.
