Greensboro, NC (December 3, 2020) – The Greensboro Police Department is investigating after a woman was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Tuesday night. The accident took place around 8:45 at the intersection of West Gate City Boulevard and Warren Street.

According to a report from officers, 57-year-old Katrina Calles was walking near the roadway when she was hit by a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Jasper Wingate, Jr. Calles was on her way home from working as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army when she was struck. Following the crash, Calles was taken to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Along with Jasper Wingate, police also arrested 71-year-old Hazel Marie Wingate. Jasper Wingate was charged with felony hit-and-run while Hazel Wingate was charged with fleeing from the accident and failing to report a crash. Both were taken into custody by officers following the crash.
