Greensboro, NC (September 8, 2021) – A driver was killed following a crash in Greensboro on Monday, September 6th. The collision happened around 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 40 near Sandy Ridge Road.
The Greensboro Police Department responded to the accident scene. According to officers, a man was driving eastbound on I-40 in an Acura TSX when he lost control of the vehicle. The car slammed into a guardrail before rolling over and catching fire. The driver was able to escape the burning vehicle but as he stepped into the roadway he was hit by an oncoming car. He died at the scene as a result of the collision.
Police have not identified the victim at this time. There were no additional injuries as a result of the crash. No charges have been filed but an investigation is underway by the GPD Crash Reconstruction Unit. No further details are available.
