Franklinton, NC (September 19, 2020) – A two-car crash was reported in Franklin County on Friday, September 18th. The crash happened on U.S. 401 near Airport Road.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, two cars were traveling southbound on U.S. 401 in the same direction. One of the vehicles attempted to pass the other. As the car drifted into the opposite lane, it collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. Four people in the car that was attempting to pass were taken to the hospital and one person in the vehicle that was struck was also transported. At least one person had to be extricated from the car following the crash. Authorities have not offered any information on the extent of the injuries sustained and the victims have not been identified.
An investigation into the accident remains ongoing. It is expected that the driver of the first vehicle will face charges for improper passing. No additional details are available at this time.
