Randolph County, NC – UPDATE: Charles Gray Identified in Hwy. 220 Moped Crash

Randolph County, NC (September 19, 2020) – Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol have identified the man who was hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Randolph County earlier this week. The crash originally took place around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 17th.

Troopers responded to U.S. Highway 220 near Cedar Grove Road after receiving a call regarding the crash. According to police, 58-year-old Charles Gray was riding a moped on U.S. 220 when he was struck by another vehicle. The vehicle that collided with Gray’s moped then fled the scene after the accident. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and provide treatment to Gray. He was later taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still searching for the driver who caused the crash. A description of the suspect and the vehicle are not available at this time. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Highway Patrol at *47.
