Durham, NC – Driver Seriously Hurt in Car Accident on Durham Fwy.

Durham, NC (December 4, 2020) – Police in Durham responded to the scene of a serious on Thursday, December 3rd. The crash happened around 7:00 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the Durham Freeway, near West Chapel Hill Street.

According to a police report, a 2005 Dodge Durango was traveling on the freeway when it collided with a 2015 Freightliner truck. After the collision, the Durango left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and spun sideways before flipping over and coming to rest against a guardrail on the opposite side of the road. The driver of the Durango was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

The accident caused the roadway to be closed for nearly four hours following the accident. Motorists were advised to avoid the scene and to find alternate routes of travel if possible. An investigation is ongoing at this time and there is no further information available.
