Charlotte, NC – One Hurt in Crash Involving Car and Light Rail Train

Charlotte, NC (September 10, 2020) – At least one person was hurt in a crash involving a car and light rail train in Charlotte on Thursday, September 10th. The crash took place at the intersection of Sweden Road and South Boulevard.

The Charlotte Fire Department, Pineville Fire Department, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police all responded to the crash scene. There is no word at this time on the events leading up to the crash. The train sustained front-end damage and the car sustained heavy damage. The driver of the vehicle had to be extricated by fire crews before being taken to Atrium Health for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The victim’s name and age have not been released at this time.

Passengers on the bus were ordered to transfer to a different bus following the accident while Sweden Road remained closed as officers were at the scene cleaning up debris and investigating the accident.
