Buncombe County, NC – At Least One Hurt in Six-Car Crash on I-40

Buncombe County, NC (August 17, 2020) – A total of six cars were involved in an accident that took place on Sunday, August 16th near Swannanoa. The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the exit for Palton Cove Road.
Officials received a report of the crash around 5:30 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered that six vehicles had been involved in a collision. Emergency crews arrived shortly after officers and rendered medical aid to injured victims. At least one person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The road remained closed for nearly two hours before reopening around 7:30 p.m. Both police and fire crews worked at the scene while motorists in the area were advised to use alternate routes of travel.
