Benson, NC (March 3, 2022) – Police in Benson responded to the scene of a serious accident on Tuesday, March 1st. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near mile marker 78.
According to a report, a red pickup truck was southbound when the driver left the roadway for unknown reasons. As the truck veered back onto the highway, it crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a U-Haul truck and an SUV. The driver of the pickup suffered critical injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries. None of those involved in the collision have been identified at this time.
The area was blocked off while an investigation took place. Motorists experienced significant delays at the accident scene.
There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed. No further details have been released at this time.
