Asheville, NC – One Killed, One Hurt in Car Accident on Blue Ridge Parkway

Asheville, NC (September 4, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured following a car accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville. The crash took place on Thursday, September 3rd around 2:30 p.m. near milepost 168.

The National Park Service, along with rescue crews, responded to the scene shortly after the crash occurred. According to a report, the 65-year-old Danny Shelton of Meadows of Dan, Virginia was traveling southbound on the Parkway when, for unknown reasons, his car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. Shelton suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The other driver, who has not been identified, was airlifted to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Police are still investigating the accident at this time. No further information is available.
