Raleigh, NC – Patrick Simmons Killed in Glenwood Avenue Pedestrian Crash

Raleigh, NC (June 24, 2020) – A pedestrian from Raleigh was killed in a crash that took place on Glenwood Avenue on Tuesday, June 23rd. The crash happened near Brownleigh Drive and Umstead State Park.

According to a report from the Raleigh Police Department, Patrick James Simmons was walking on the fog line when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northwest on Glenwood Avenue. Simmons was walking with his back facing traffic when the crash occurred. The driver has not been identified at this time. Simmons was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver was later charged by police with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision. The crash remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.
