Winston-Salem, NC – One Killed, One Hurt in Crash on Country Club Rd.

Winston-Salem, NC (November 10, 2021) – A man from Winston-Salem was killed and another was hurt following a car accident on Monday, November 8th. The crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Country Club Road at the intersection with Picadilly Drive.

According to an initial investigation, 72-year-old Gary Wayne Combs, of Winston-Salem, was driving a Honda Fit when he made a turn from Piccadilly onto Country Club. As he turned, his vehicle collided with an oncoming Ford Escape. Both Combs and the driver of the Escape were hurt in the collision and taken to a local hospital. Combs later succumbed to his injuries.

There is no word on the condition of the other driver at this time. Motorists were advised to avoid the area following the accident or to find alternate routes of travel if possible.

Police are still looking into the cause of the accident. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be issued. No additional details are available at this time.
