Vanceboro, NC (April 17, 2021) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a deadly car accident in Vanceboro on Thursday, April 15th. The collision happened around 6:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 17.
According to Highway Patrol troopers, a vehicle was traveling southbound on U.S. 17 when it entered a curve and crossed the centerline of the roadway. The vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle traveling northbound. The driver of the southbound vehicle died in the accident while the driver in the northbound vehicle was seriously hurt. Emergency crews responded and the second driver was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. There is no update on their condition at this time. The deceased victim has not been identified by authorities.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision. No further information is available.
