Sneads Ferry, NC – Eddie Lejime Simmons Killed in N.C. 172 Bicycle Accident

Sneads Ferry, NC (February 22, 2021) – A man from Sneads Ferry was killed in a bicycle accident that took place on Saturday, February 20th. The accident happened around 9:50 p.m. on North Carolina Highway 172.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, 72-year-old Eddie Lejime Simmons was riding his bicycle on N.C 172 when he attempted to make a left turn. Simmons was hit by an oncoming vehicle driven by 19-year-old Ryuichi Joseph Reynolds of Sneads Ferry. Troopers believe that Reynolds failed to see Simmons, thus causing the crash to occur.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time. There are charges pending against Simmons for failing to yield the right of way to Reynolds.
