Rocky Mount, NC (February 25, 2022) – Police in Rocky Mount were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on Friday, February 25th. The accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near exit 141 and North Carolina Highway 43.

According to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, a driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-95 when they collided with a marked deputy’s patrol vehicle. The wrong-way driver and a deputy in the oncoming vehicle both received serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were taken to UNC Health Care for treatment. Their identities have not been released at this time. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel as police investigated.

The accident is under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. No further information has been released.
