Raleigh, NC (June 28, 2022) – Police in Raleigh responded to the scene of a deadly wrong-way crash on Tuesday, June 28th. The crash occurred on Interstate 540 near the ramp for Falls of Neuse Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the crash. According to troopers, a driver was traveling westbound on the eastbound exit ramp when their vehicle collided head-on with at least one other vehicle. One person died at the scene while three others were taken to area hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The identity of the deceased victim has not been released pending family notification. There is no word on the severity of the injuries suffered by the victims.
The crash is under investigation at this time. It is believed that alcohol was a factor. Troopers have not identified the wrong-way driver. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
