Greensboro, NC – One Dead, Three Hurt in Car Accident on I-40

Greensboro, NC (August 31, 2020) – A man from Greensboro died and three juveniles were hospitalized following a head-on crash in Greensboro on Sunday, August 30th. The crash happened on I-40 near Gate City Boulevard around 12:38 a.m.

According to the Greensboro Police Department, 59-year-old Oscar Solis Gonzalez was traveling the wrong way in a Ford truck on Interstate 40. As Gonzalez traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes, he collided head-on with a 2018 Toyota Sienna minivan. There were three children in the minivan at the time of the accident. After the minivan and Ford collided, an Audi collided with the back of the van. The Audi driver fled the scene after striking the van.

Gonzalez was ejected from his truck and died at the scene. The driver and three children in the Sienna were taken to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
