Greensboro, NC – Joseph Edwards Killed in Crash on Battleground Ave.

Greensboro, NC (April 4, 2021) – A 60-year-old man from Eden died in a two-car crash that took place in Greensboro on Saturday morning. The collision took place around 10:00 a.m. on Battleground Avenue at the intersection with West Cornwallis Drive.

According to the Greensboro Police Department, 71-year-old Odis Alexiou, of Greensboro, was traveling northbound on Battleground in a Ford Explorer. Alexiou crossed left of center and collided with a blue Honda CR-V traveling southbound on Battleground. The driver of the Honda was identified as 59-year-old Anita Edwards. Edwards’ passenger, 60-year-old Joseph Edwards, was killed in the collision. Alexiou sustained minor injuries.

Following an investigation, Greensboro officers charged Alexiou with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center. Neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash. There were no other cars involved in the accident and no additional injuries have been reported.
