Greensboro, NC – 1 Killed, 3 Hurt in I-40 Crash

Greensboro, NC (April 23, 2021) – The Greensboro Police Department responded to the scene of a car accident on Friday afternoon. The collision occurred around 1:42 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Exit 222.

According to a report from officials, a 2006 Chevrolet Express was traveling eastbound on I-40. The driver of the Express was identified as Eduin Sosa Artaega. Artaega attempted to take Exit 222 but lost control of his vehicle. The car skidded across the road, struck an embankment, and rolled over several times before coming to rest. Artaega was ejected from the vehicle and died at the crash scene. Three passengers in his vehicle were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. None of the passengers have been identified. Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible and to use caution when traveling near the accident scene.

The GPD is investigating the collision at this time. Speed and driver error are considered to be factors in the crash. There is no additional information available.
