Fatal Accidents in North Carolina  Fayetteville, NC - One Killed in Three-Car Crash on Gillis Hill Rd.

North Carolina’s roadways can be dangerous places for motorists. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there are about 1,500 fatalities on our state’s roadways each year. When a fatal accident takes place, police must carefully investigate the cause of the collision. In many instances, at least one driver’s negligence leads to innocent victims being affected. In these cases, the victims or their family members may have legal rights under North Carolina law.

North Carolina’s wrongful death statutes allow family members to file wrongful death actions against drivers who cause fatal crashes. Under the law, the deceased victim’s next-of-kin will file this claim as the administrator of the victim’s estate. Family members have two years to a file wrongful death suit. Due to the complicated nature of these cases, they should only be handled by an experienced lawyer who has a background in serious injury cases.
