Catawba County, NC – UPDATE: Troy Michael Faust Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Catawba County, NC (February 25, 2021) – A man from Newton was charged after a crash that left a motorcyclist dead in Catawba County. The crash took place on North Carolina Highway 16 near Mount Olive Church Road at 6:15 p.m.

According to authorities, 65-year-old Timothy Jay Roberts was driving a 2004 Ford pickup southbound on N.C. 16. Roberts attempted to make a left turn onto Mount Olive Church Road but failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle driven by Troy Michael Faust, 26, of Conover. Faust suffered critical injuries and died at the crash scene. Roberts fled the scene after the accident but was later located and arrested by authorities.
