Winston-Salem, NC – Sandra Allen Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on N. MLK Dr.

Winston-Salem, NC (November 8, 2020) – A 27-year-old woman was seriously hurt in a pedestrian crash that took place on Saturday in Winston-Salem. The accident occurred on North Martin Luther King Drive.

The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the accident scene shortly after the collision took place. According to officers, 27-year-old Sandra Lashawn Allen was walking in or near the roadway when she was struck by a 2012 Infiniti Sedan driven by 53-year-old Steve Edward Couthen of Rural Hall. Couthen remained at the scene following the accident and told police he was unable to see Allen due to being temporarily blinded by sunlight.

Allen was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she was listed in serious condition following the crash. Police are still investigating the accident at this time and there is no information on whether charges are being filed.
