Winston-Salem, NC (January 3, 2022) – Officials in Winston-Salem responded to the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident early Monday morning. The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. along New Walkertown Road.
According to a report, 32-year-old Zachary Baker was walking on New Walkertown when he was hit by a vehicle. When rescue workers arrived, they found Baker lying in the roadway suffering from critical injuries. Lifesaving measures were performed but he ultimately died at the accident scene. The driver who struck Baker fled the area following the collision.
Detectives are still searching for the driver at this time. There is no description of the vehicle or the suspect available. The accident remains under investigation and there is no word on potential charges.
