St. Pauls, NC – One Killed, Three Hurt in Car Accident on McRainey Road

St. Pauls, NC (June 17, 2020) – A 6-year-old child was killed and three others were seriously hurt in a single-car crash on McRainey Road. The crash took place on Friday, June 12th.

According to the State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Kelsey Lee Owens of St. Pauls was driving a 2005 Kia when she left the roadway to the right. Her vehicle collided with several trees before coming to rest. A 6-year-old girl died in the crash while 31-year-old Aaron Jarube, a 2-year-old girl, and Owens suffered serious injuries. All three were airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Both speeding and distracted driving are believed to be factors in the case. At this time there are no charges against Owens but the crash is under investigation.
