Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in North Carolina  Onslow County, NC - Motorcyclist Killed in Sunday Wreck on Highway 17

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there were more than 3,500 motorcycle crashes in North Carolina in 2018. Of this number, there were 2,806 injuries, and 176 reported fatalities. A North Carolina motorcycle crash often brings severe injuries and even death in the worst-case scenario. Motorcycles offer little protection from the force and impact of a crash and motorcyclists are often thrown from their bikes following the accident, thus increasing the chances of being hurt.

Many motorcycle accidents in North Carolina are caused by negligent drivers. A negligent driver can cause a crash by being inattentive or unaware of their surroundings. In the case of a motorcycle accident, many drivers fail to see the motorcyclist until it is too late to avoid a collision. A complete and careful investigation must be undertaken following the crash to determine if the other driver could have avoided the accident through the use of reasonable care and caution.
