Newton, NC – One Killed, Five Hurt in Crash on N.C. Highway 10

Newton, NC (November 20, 2020) – One person was killed and five others suffered injuries in a three-car crash that took place in Catawba County on Thursday, November 19th. The accident took place on North Carolina Highway 10 just before 6:00 a.m.

The Newton Police Department responded to the accident scene. According to officers, three cars were involved in the crash. The driver of a Hyundai Sonata died at the accident scene, while four occupants of a Chevrolet Tahoe were extricated by firefighters and transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center for treatment. The Tahoe driver was being treated for serious injuries along with a passenger. The driver of a third vehicle, a Toyota pickup truck, sustained minor injuries.

The identities of the victims are being withheld at this time pending family notification. The crash caused the road to be closed for about four hours while authorities were at the scene. There is no word on the cause of the accident at this time.
