Morehead City, NC (July 10, 2020) – Troopers with the State Highway Patrol have identified the victim of a deadly car accident in Morehead City. The crash took place on Saturday, July 4th.
Police responded to the scene along Highway 24 near Bogue Loop Road. When officers arrived, they determined that two cars had been involved in a head-on crash. According to reports, 77-year-old Elder Jones was driving eastbound on Highway 24 when a westbound vehicle crossed the center line and struck his car. Jones was killed in the crash. The other driver was airlifted to a hospital in Wilmington with serious injuries. That driver has not been identified.
No further information has been released and it is not clear if charges are expected.
