Lexington, NC – UPDATE: Billy Nance, Jr. Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Lexington, NC (July 29, 2020) – The Lexington Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last week. The accident took place on Friday, July 24th at the intersection of Winston Road and 1st Rainbow Street.

According to reports, 65-year-old Billy Nance, Jr. was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a car driven by 31-year-old Kameron Burkhart. When investigators and rescue workers arrived at the scene, they found Nance lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck Nance was identified as 31-year-old Kameron Burkhart of Lexington.

There is no word at this time on the cause of the accident. Police are still investigating and have not said whether any charges are expected. No other injuries were reported in the crash. Motorists were advised to avoid the crash scene as police and rescue crews worked to investigate and clear away the wreckage.
