Jacksonville, NC (January 26, 2022) – The Jacksonville Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident on Wednesday, January 26th. The crash was reported just after 3:00 p.m. on Piney Green Road near the intersection with Marian Place.

According to a report from the scene, 51-year-old Michelle Waldron was walking near the roadway when she was hit by a car. Waldron suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at the crash scene. There is no further information on the events leading up to the accident and no other injuries were reported.

Traffic in the area was backed up as police investigated the accident. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel.
