Greensboro, NC (October 10, 2022) – A Greensboro man died in a DWI crash over the weekend. The accident happened around 2:20 a.m. on Randleman Road.
According to a report from the Greensboro Police Department, 24-year-old Hugo Sarceno Hernandez was operating a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Hernandez was leaving a parking lot on Randleman Road when he was struck by a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The driver of the Passat was identified as 35-year-old Rudy Thompson, III, of Greensboro. Hernandez suffered critical injuries in the accident and later succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation, Thompson was arrested and charged with several offenses including aggravated felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, and driving with a revoked license. He was given a $25,000 bond and transported to the Guilford County Jail.
An investigation remains ongoing. There is no further information available at this time.
