Garner, NC – Michael Pippin Hurt in Rear-End Crash on U.S. 70

Garner, NC (February 6, 2021) – A man from Clayton was taken to the hospital after a serious crash on U.S. 70. The accident occurred on Saturday, January 30th at approximately 7:00 a.m.

Trooper D.C. Pate with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report, Michael Pippin was traveling eastbound on U.S. 70 when he slowed down to make a right turn into a private driveway. At the same time, Margarito Gutierrez-Burgos was traveling behind Pippin in a 2004 Ford. Gutierrez-Burgos failed to reduce his speed and collided with the back of Pippin’s car. The impact of the collision forced both vehicles off the road. Pippin’s car collided with a tree and rolled over before coming to rest in a ditch. Gutierrez-Burgos’s vehicle came to rest on top of Pippin’s vehicle.

EMS units responded to the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Pippin was transported to Wake Med Raleigh for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Gutierrez-Burgos was not hurt in the crash. Trooper Pate charged Gutierrez-Burgos for driving without a license.
