Garner, NC (January 13, 2021) – A man from Angier was injured in a three-vehicle accident that took place in Garner on Thursday, January 7th. The accident took place on State Road 5220 near Interstate 40 around 6:15 p.m.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident. According to Trooper C.L. Matison, Aaron Jamel Downer, of Raleigh, was traveling southbound in a 2015 Nissan when traffic slowed in front of him. Downer failed to reduce his speed and collided with the rear of a 2002 Nissan driven by Brian Vern James of Angier. James’s vehicle then collided with the back of a third vehicle, driven by Danielle Tiffany Lang.
Rescue workers responded to the scene and transported James to Wake Med Hospital in Garner for treatment of unspecified injuries. Downer was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash. There were no other injuries reported.
