Durham, NC – Essie Mae Brockington Hurt in Crash on I-85

Durham, NC (December 13, 2020) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash with reported injuries in Durham on Tuesday, December 8th. The crash took place around 3:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 85, near Mile Marker 179.

According to a report, Essie Mae Brockington was operating a 2001 Chevrolet southbound on I-85 when her vehicle was struck by a 2011 Honda driven by Tanesha Rene Alexander of Henderson. Rescue workers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident took place. Brockington was transported to Duke University Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. There is no current update on her condition. Alexander was not injured in the accident.

Troopers have not released any additional details surrounding the crash.
