North Carolina Motorcycle Accidents

Our state is popular for motorcyclists due to a temperate climate and varied terrain. Bikers can enjoy riding at the beach, in the mountains, or anywhere in between. Unfortunately, along with this enjoyment comes risk. Motorcycle accidents in North Carolina take place each day and many of them result in serious injuries and even death for the victim. A motorcycle accident can be caused by many factors but frequently results due to the negligence of other drivers. Each crash will be closely investigated by the police in order to determine the cause and which person should be held responsible.

Each year across our state, approximately 200 lives are lost due to motorcycle crashes. The rate of injury in North Carolina motorcycle accidents is greater than 80%, with many victims suffering serious injuries that require extensive hospitalization and high medical costs. In cases of fatalities, family members are forced to suddenly move forward and can also be faced with financial difficulties, including funeral and medical bills and replacement of lost wages.

If you find yourself in this difficult situation, there may be help available. Under North Carolina law, you could be entitled to file suit against the other driver when you have lost a loved one in a traffic crash. North Carolina’s wrongful death statute permits the next-of-kin to file a claim to recover compensation following a fatal accident. The compensation that you receive can help you get back on your feet and ensure that you are not held financially responsible for the negligence of others.
