Charlotte, NC – Emergency Crews Respond to Multi-Car Crash on I-485

Charlotte, NC (November 7, 2020) – Multiple vehicles were involved in an accident on I-485 in Charlotte on Friday. The crash took place just before 6:00 a.m.on the Interstate 485 inner in South Charlotte.

Police responded to the scene near the exit for Johnston Road. The crash involved multiple cars and resulted in all three lanes of the highway being blocked. According to a report, there were five vehicles, including two pickup trucks involved in the crash. One of the trucks was carrying a load of asphalt. Emergency crews responded to the scene to assist victims who were hurt in the accident. At this time, there is no information on the extent of the injuries sustained. Police have not said how the crash took place.

There were significant delays near the crash scene as traffic was backed up to the Providence Road exit. Motorists were advised to find an alternate route of travel as police directed traffic onto Rea Road while they worked to clear the accident scene.

An investigation remains ongoing at this time and charges are pending. No further information is available.
