Chapel Hill, NC – Pedestrian Hurt in Hit-and-Run on Old Durham Road

Chapel Hill, NC (September 1, 2020) – The Chapel Hill Police Department was called to the scene of a pedestrian accident on Sunday, August 30th. The crash was reported just after 6:00 p.m. along Old Durham Road near Scarlett Drive.

According to reports, officers received a call regarding the crash and quickly responded to the scene. When they arrived, police found one person lying in the roadway and suffering from injuries. The person had been walking along Old Durham Road before being struck by a vehicle in the area. The vehicle then fled the scene before police could arrive. The pedestrian was taken to UNC hospitals with undisclosed injuries. There is no update on their condition at this time and their identity has not been released.

Police are still searching for the vehicle involved in the crash. The car is described as a silver or gray SUV.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Communications Center at 919-732-5063.
