Yadkin County, NC – Two Children Killed in Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-77

Yadkin County, NC (May 19, 2021) – Two children were killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Yadkin County on Wednesday. The accident happened around 12:20 p.m. on Interstate 77 in the northbound lanes.

According to a report from the scene, a Ford Escape and the tractor-trailer were both traveling northbound when the two vehicles collided with one another. The Ford went off the road to the left. The tractor-trailer overturned on the highway, blocking all lanes of travel. A 14-year-old and a 5-year-old passenger in the Ford were killed in the crash. A 9-year-old and an adult female were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was also transported with unknown injuries. No one involved in the collision was immediately identified and the cause of the accident was not released.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. There is no additional information available at this time.
