Winston-Salem, NC – Passenger Seriously Hurt in DWI Crash on S. Glenn Ave.

Winston-Salem, NC (January 23, 2021) – A driver and a passenger were seriously injured following a car accident that took place in Winston-Salem on Saturday, January 23rd. The accident was reported just before 1:00 p.m. on South Glenn Avenue near the intersection with Hope Lane.

The Winston-Salem Police Department, along with fire and rescue crews, were dispatched to the accident scene. Following an investigation, authorities were able to determine that a Silver 2001 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro, was traveling eastbound on Glenn Avenue when the driver left the road and collided with a tree stump. Following the impact, the car overturned and then came to rest in a nearby creek. Both the passenger and the driver were hurt in the accident. The passenger is believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Police later identified the driver as 68-year-old Walter Darrey Moore, of Winston-Salem. Moore was charged with several offenses, including driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, and failure to maintain his lane of travel.
