Winston-Salem, NC (July 26, 2020) – A 45-year-old woman from Rural Hall was killed after her car collided with a tractor-trailer in Winston-Salem on Saturday, July 26th. The crash took place around 12:00 p.m. in the 6200 block of University Parkway.
Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department, along with EMS and rescue crews, responded to the crash scene after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision. When police arrived, they discovered that 45-year-old Kelly Burick Taylor was driving a Nissan Pathfinder northbound on University when she collided with a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer that was stationary on the roadway.
Paramedics administered aid to Taylor at the scene but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful as she succumbed to her injuries. Taylor’s passenger, an unidentified 45-year-old male was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. There were no other injuries reported. At this time, the cause of the crash is unclear and is still under investigation. University Parkway was closed for about four hours while officers were at the scene.
The Winston-Salem Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit is conducting an investigation into the crash and its cause.
