Winston-Salem, NC – John Dickson Cobb Killed in Sunday Moped Crash

Winston-Salem, NC (July 6, 2020) – A 31-year-old man was killed while riding his moped on Sunday in Winston-Salem. The crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. in the 4300 block of Old Belews Creek Road.

Police say that John Dickson Cobb, of Winston-Salem, was riding a 2018 Bahama Moped southbound on Old Belews Creek. At the same time, a driver in a 2000 Mercedes ML320 was traveling northbound. The Mercedes driver made a left turn onto Beeson Dairy Road and collided with Cobb’s moped. Cobb was thrown from the bike and landed in the roadway where he was struck by a third vehicle. He died at the crash scene. There were no other injuries reported.

An investigation remains ongoing and there have been no charges filed at this time. Anyone with information should contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at (336) 773-7000.
