Stoneville, NC (November 22, 2021) – A 69-year-old man from Eden was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Friday, November 19th. The crash took place on North Carolina Highway 135 near Settle Bridge Road.
According to a report from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Williams Thomas Edwards was operating his vehicle southbound on N.C. 135 when he was he entered the intersection at a stop sign. As he proceeded into the intersection, his vehicle was struck by a car driven by 32-year-old Travis Anthony Dennis, of Madison.
Edwards was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. Dennis was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The road was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the accident. There is no word on the cause of the crash at this time and no information on whether any charges will be filed.
An investigation is ongoing.
