Sanford, NC – Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Jefferson Davis Highway

Sanford, NC (November 30, 2021) – A woman in Sanford was killed in a pedestrian accident on Sunday, November 28th. The accident took place around 2:15 a.m. on Jefferson Davis Highway near the U.S. Highway 421 bypass.

According to the Sanford Police Department, 27-year-old Maybelline Ann Arzate, of Pittsboro, was crossing the road when she was hit by a car. Arzate suffered critical injuries and was later pronounced dead by rescue workers. No additional injuries were reported due to the accident. Police closed the road down while they investigated the crash. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes of travel and to avoid the area if possible.

An investigation is underway. There is no additional information available at this time.
