Raleigh, NC – Two Dead in Head-On Car Accident on Avent Ferry Rd.

Raleigh, NC (January 10, 2022) – The Raleigh Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly two-vehicle crash on Sunday, January 9th. The accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Avent Ferry Road near North Carolina State University.
According to officers, a car was traveling southwest on Avent Ferry when the driver crossed into the opposite travel lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The driver and two passengers of the second vehicle were transported to a local hospital. The passengers succumbed to their injuries while the driver remained hospitalized in serious condition. There is no word on any other injuries. Police closed the road for several hours while they investigated the collision. Drivers were advised to find alternate routes of travel and to avoid the scene if possible.
The names of the victims have not been released at this time and there is no word on the cause of the crash. The crash remains under investigation. No further information is available.
