Raleigh, NC (August 29, 2022) – Officials in Raleigh were at the scene of a serious car accident on Monday afternoon, August 29th. The accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on Interstate 540 near the exit for Leesville Road.

According to a report provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a car was traveling westbound when it collided with another vehicle. The car overturned and burst into flames after coming to rest. Three people inside the burning vehicle were critically injured. They were transported to an area hospital where there is no further word on their condition at this time. Troopers closed all three westbound lanes of the I-540 while they investigated the accident. Motorists were asked to use caution when traveling and delays were experienced at the scene. The victims have not been identified and there is no word on the cause.
