Orange County, NC (July 10, 2021) – A 28-year-old man from Hillsborough lost his life in a hit-and-run crash that took place in Orange County on Thursday, July 8th. The collision was reported just after 6:30 a.m. on Wilkerson Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to a report from troopers, John Lewis Aldridge was crossing Wilkerson Road when he was hit by a vehicle that was traveling southbound. Aldridge suffered critical injuries and died at the accident scene. The driver of the vehicle fled the area after striking Aldridge and has not been located at this time. Troopers do not have a description of the vehicle or the driver.
No further details have been released. An investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Highway Patrol or Crimestoppers.
