Traffic Accidents in North Carolina Fort Bragg, NC - One Killed, Two Hurt in Car Accident on Raeford Vass Rd.

Sadly, fatal car accidents are reported every day across North Carolina. In 2019, nearly 1,500 people lost their lives in North Carolina car accidents. Many fatal crashes occur on highways such as Interstate 40. Serious accidents are more likely to occur on the highway due to higher traffic volumes and higher speed limits. When these factors are combined with negligent driving behavior, the potential for a serious or fatal accident increases.

If you have lost a family member due to a car accident in North Carolina, our condolences are with you. We know that there is nothing more devastating or heartbreaking than experiencing the sudden loss of a loved one. This is especially true if your loved one was killed in a crash that was not their fault. Despite the tragedy of this situation, you may have valuable legal rights. Under North Carolina law, the victim’s next-of-kin may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim to recover certain types of damages in the aftermath of the crash.

North Carolina wrongful death actions must be filed within two years of the date of death. The victim’s personal representative can ask for compensation for payment of funeral and medical expenses, loss of consortium, lost wages, and more. Due to the complexity of these claims, they should only be handled by an experienced wrongful death lawyer in North Carolina. Here at Burton Law Firm, we can assist you during your time of need.
