Lumberton, NC – UPDATE: Hayley Jacobs Identified in Ten Mile Road Crash

Lumberton, NC (July 23, 2020) – A female victim and two others who were critically injured in a crash in Lumberton over the weekend have now been identified by authorities. The crash originally happened on Friday, July 17th along Ten Mile Road.

According to reports, 32-year-old Hayley D. Jacobs from St. Pauls was driving a Nissan passenger car on Ten Mile Road. Jacobs crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a 2011 Ford pickup truck that was driven by 36-year-old Maynor Christian Perez Velasquez, also of St. Pauls.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, along with paramedics, responded quickly to the scene of the crash. Jacobs was taken to Southeastern Medical Center where she died from her injuries. Both Velasquez and a 27-year-old passenger identified at Louis Ven Velasquez Gomez were taken to the hospital in critical condition. There is no further word on the conditions of the injured victims at this time.

Troopers continue to investigate the cause of the accident and have ruled out the possibility of a vehicle defect. No further information is available at this time.
