Guilford County, NC – One Killed, One Hurt in Wednesday Crash on U.S. 29

Guilford County, NC (July 21, 2021) – Police in Greensboro responded to the scene of a deadly crash on Wednesday, July 21st. The accident took place on U.S. Highway 29 near North Carolina Highway 150 around 8:30 a.m.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 45-year-old Patrick Small, of Greensboro, was traveling northbound on U.S. 29. At the same time, 29-year-old LaCourtnee James Fitzgerald, of Reidsville, was traveling southbound in an SUV. Small’s car traveled across the median and collided head-on with Fitzgerald’s SUV. Fitzgerald died at the crash scene while Small was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while police investigated at the scene.

Following an investigation, Greensboro officers charged Small with driving while license revoked, driving left of center and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Officials have not released any additional details at this time.
