North Carolina Fatal Accidents  Greenville, NC - UPDATE: Abby Foster, Madison Wilson Identified in US 264 Crash

Each year in North Carolina, there are approximately 1,400 fatal traffic accidents in our state. A North Carolina injury accident can take place suddenly and at the most unexpected times. Drivers must always be alert and aware of their surroundings. Failing to do so can result in a crash that has long-lasting and sometimes irreversible consequences. Sadly, hundreds of victims lose their lives every year due to crashes that were not their fault.

If you have lost a loved one in a traffic accident in North Carolina, you may have valuable and important legal rights. Under North Carolina law, a wrongful death claim can be filed by the victim’s personal representative or next-of-kin. These claims are filed when a negligent driver is legally responsible for causing a crash that results in death. North Carolina’s wrongful death statute provides that these actions must be filed within two years of the death of death. The person bringing a wrongful death action can recover certain types of damages including lost wages, funeral costs, medical expenses, payment for loss of companionship, and potentially more. In some cases, punitive damages may be available for especially egregious conduct.
