Durham, NC – Two Hurt in Fiery Car Accident on Duke Street

Durham, NC  (June 27, 2020) – The Durham Police Department responded to a fiery two-car crash on Friday morning. The crash took place around 8:30 a.m. on Duke Street near the intersection with Frazier Street.

According to reports, 18-year-old Bryant Cubias-Acencio was traveling southbound on Duke Street when he lost control of his vehicle. The car spun sideways and collided with a 2016 Subaru Forester. Cubias-Acencio’s Honda Accord caught fire after the collision. Nearby Good Samaritans were able to pull him from the burning vehicle and he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time, however, the crash remains under investigation.
